Coaching Psychology
Coaching means working together toward your goal; it's unique because it focuses on your situation, and isn't just the same approach applied to everyone.Because it's based in the science of psychology, it can help you overcome obstacles (e.g. lack of confidence, anxiety, lack of motivation), and deal with discomfort. Some therapies and counselling over-analyse the past, but we focus on the present and build for the future. Your real change occurs not just because of good advice...it happens when you apply what you've learned in between our meetings.
We work together on a "common project": we play different roles (naturally)...and share the journey toward improvements in your life. Support for you comes from a core value: respecting who you are...guided by a real desire to help you to feel better about yourself.
These approaches stand-up to rigorous scientific scrutiny, because they are evidence based.
The "House of Change"* illustrates the holistic approach to Coaching Psychology. Together we look at your situation - that can be your physical environment, other people, and demands from your job to name a few. How you approach things (behaviour), is very important...sometimes just being aware of habits can make a difference.
In this process, your thoughts are crucial. By challenging and overcoming self-limiting beliefs, we can re-frame past experiences and help you see clearly to plan an improved future. Finally, your emotions are an important guide: they point to your core values.
